Scale Positions
Learn scales one position at a time instead of staring at the whole neck. Pick a root and scale type; each box position is shown separately and the notes that give the scale its character are highlighted.
Guide
How to use the Scale Positions
Choosing a scale
Pick a root and scale type: major and minor pentatonic, blues, major (Ionian), natural minor, harmonic and melodic minor, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian and more.
Box positions
Instead of the whole scale, the neck shows only the selected box. Switch positions with the numbered buttons; the line below tells you which frets and strings the box covers. The full-neck option shows every note of the scale together.
Colours and scale facts
The root, 3rd, 5th and the characteristic note that sets the scale apart get their own colours; other scale tones share one colour. The panel explains the mood of the scale and the job of each degree in plain sentences.
